Board meetings and retreats for finance teams

Jakarta is where the deal executes. Bali is where the board argues about it for three days without being interrupted — with a survey day attached, so the trip produces something beyond a decision.

01 — The agenda

Three days, structured

Internal work first, field work second, water last. Reversing that order produces a pleasant trip and no decisions.

  1. Before arrival

    Pre-briefings and protocol

Board packs circulated, NDAs signed by local staff, and the digital protocol agreed with your IT and compliance teams — device-free zones or a closed local network where that is the standard.

  2. Day 1

    The board session

Half or full day in a secure villa or hotel ballroom with enterprise-grade AV. Nothing external scheduled, because the first day is the one that gets protected.

  3. Day 2

    Field programme

Three to six site visits in one structured day around Canggu, Uluwatu or Ubud, followed by a work session to interpret what was seen while it is still contested.

  4. Day 3

    Offshore, or east

A dawn departure on a chartered vessel for short-haul waters, or a flight to Labuan Bajo for marine-tourism and vessel inspection. Roughly an hour in the air.

  5. Throughout

    Executive support

Schedule shielding, board-pack distribution, printing and collation, and remote coordination with head office across European, US or Asian hours.

  6. After

    Documented and followed up

Sessions documented, follow-up calls with licensed advisers scheduled, and optional professional filming of the field component for those who could not attend.

Handled by the Juara Holding Group investor desk, which has run board-level delegations since 2015. Confidential sessions are supported by on-site security, with executive protection and private medical concierge available for principals.

02 — Cost

What a board-grade programme runs

Per delegate, as of August 2026. Villa or resort category, vessel choice, season and security level move the figure.

Three-day retreat
from USD 1,200

Per delegate, with full ground handling, meeting AV and one Komodo survey day

Programme length
3 – 5 days

Three is the working minimum for a board plus field component

Board group
up to 12

A staffed private villa with a dedicated meeting room and breakout space

Larger delegation
20 – 60

A corporate resort wing or a boutique hotel taken on exclusive buy-out

Ground logistics, arrival services and accommodation are quoted on their own lines and carry their own rates — those are set out on the arrival, driver and stay pages rather than bundled invisibly here.

03 — Venue

Where a finance board actually meets

Group size and privacy requirement decide this. The marine options are the ones most often underestimated on cost and season.

01

Staffed private villa

up to 12

A dedicated meeting room and breakout spaces. The format that best supports genuinely sensitive discussion and easy re-scheduling.

02

Resort wing or buy-out

20 – 60

Corporate wings or a boutique hotel taken exclusively. Practical once the group outgrows a villa and needs plenary plus breakouts.

03

Phinisi charter, exclusive use

from USD 3,500 / day

One to three nights as a strategic cruise. Top-end vessels exceed USD 27,000 a night; AV and meeting upgrades are installed rather than assumed.

04

Dive liveaboard

from USD 250pp / night

Mid-range Indonesian liveaboards. Cost turns on cabin category, route and conservation fees rather than on nights.

05

Day charter from Benoa

No overnight

A sunset or day programme for investor briefings, launches or informal gatherings, departing Serangan or Benoa without committing to a cruise.

06

Season

Apr – Nov

Komodo charter availability and rates move sharply by month. Booking a board around a vessel means booking the month first.

Komodo national park fees run roughly from IDR 300,000per diver per day depending on inclusions. Which regions are worth combining, and what each costs in travel time, is set out on the routes page.

04 — Scope

Take the ground layer, or the whole thing

Modular on purpose. Most first programmes buy the narrow version and extend once they know what they actually needed.

Ground layer only

  • Arrival coordination, vetted accommodation and transport
  • A secure meeting space with enterprise AV
  • Your own team runs the agenda and brings its own advisers
  • Suits a board that already knows what it wants to decide
  • Cheapest per delegate, and the fastest to arrange

Full programme

  • Meeting design and agenda construction against the decision you need
  • A documented chain of custody for board papers, with NDAs for local staff
  • Field survey days built to the mandate, with operators and sites pre-qualified
  • On-site security, executive protection and private medical concierge
  • Professional filming, and relocation orientation where a permanent base is being tested

Everything regulated sits outside both columns — corporate tax, residency, charter licensing, structuring — and goes to licensed firms with your own counsel in the loop. Comparative briefings against Jakarta, Singapore or Phuket can be scheduled with those partners during the retreat.

05 — Questions

Frequently asked

How a survey trip runs
Why Bali rather than Jakarta?

Jakarta leads for day-to-day execution and quick regulator access, and that does not change. Bali suits the offsite: workable connectivity from the major Asian hubs, private-villa infrastructure for off-the-record conversation, and direct access to inspection trips east. Many teams use both, and schedule Jakarta advisers into the Bali week by video.

Can a retreat double as a field survey?

That is usually the point. A structured day covers three to six sites around Canggu, Uluwatu or Ubud, or a Komodo day illustrates how liveaboard itineraries intersect with carrying capacity, park fees and charter yields. Sessions with naval architects and yard representatives can be added where a vessel decision is live.

How is confidentiality handled?

NDAs for local staff, a documented chain of custody for board papers, and a digital protocol agreed in advance with your IT and compliance teams — which can include device-free zones or a closed local network. On-site security is standard for board sessions; executive protection is an add-on.

What group sizes work?

Up to twelve in a staffed private villa with a dedicated meeting room, which is the best format for sensitive discussion. Twenty to sixty needs a corporate resort wing or an exclusive boutique buy-out. Marine segments are sized by vessel rather than by preference.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier than most teams expect, because the constraint is rarely the venue. Komodo charter availability peaks April to November and moves sharply by month, so a programme built around a vessel is really a programme built around a month. Multi-island retreats need the flights, villa and vessel to line up together.
